Find your way into a practice that is all your own

I was saying how I like to split a page up into smaller shapes and paint inside of them. I thought I'd share more on why I think this works for me, as a way to lower the barrier to beginning as well as to learn my supplies and my preferences.

I do this a lot. Probably 2/3 or more of any given sketchbook of mine is made of either swatching or thumbnails. Earlier it was more swatching, now it's more of these little squares. Here's what I love about them:
